Hobson Industries – Partnering
Hobson Industries, the Lincolnshire, UK, military vehicle specialist, launched its Partnering Initiative at this years DVD.
Peter Hobson, managing Director of Hobson Industries said, “We see partnering with other SMEs as the way forward to fulfil new and existing requirements for our military customers. Once we have received the original Enquiry we will contact our various partner Companies to deliver a Team Approach to the contract. Not only does this speed up response time, it cuts down on duplication of costs and time. Once confirmed, our Partner’s products are then included on our list of available parts for our customers allowing them to draw down from one source, again saving time and money. The Partnership extends throughout the Through Life Support process of the vehicle allowing Hobsons to co-ordinate the supply of new and Asset Managed Parts through to its Exchange Scheme”
Partners at this year’s DVD on the Hobson Stand No SP-6 included:
AEI Systems Ltd: Suppliers of specialist gun mounts
AIGIS Blast Protection: Suppliers of specialist blast protection equipment
B. Dixon-Bate: Suppliers of military towing pintles to the Mod and other customers.
DRS Technologies Ltd: Suppliers of C$I systems
Exmoor Trim: Suppliers of military seating products
Oxley Developments Ltd: Suppliers of NVG compatible lighting systems
David Parkman, sales Director for Exmoor Trim said, “We are delighted to continue our Partnership with Hobson Industries formed during DVD 2006. With Hobsons we have developed a seamless supply chain to bring reconditioned and new seating for the Land Rover and other MoD fleet vehicles exchanging this for the old seating which goes into the Asset Managed Exchange Scheme. We are developing this joint approach for other customers. The joint approach allows the Hobson- Exmoor Partnership to supply products on a long-term contractual basis, which cuts down on costs and overhead.”
Peter Hobson continued, “Having established the principle of an Exchange Scheme with our customers, we are now supplying a large range of parts and assemblies, including engines, gearboxes, steering boxes, axles and transfer boxes using a combination of new and Asset Managed parts. Our next development concerns the supply of CESs (Complete Equipment Schedule) parts kits to our customers. At the moment many military customers buy individual items which often cost as much as £70.00 to fulfil. By using CES kits, we can cut down on this expensive paperwork and enable complete assemblies such as axles to be delivered to the front line.”
Hobson Industries also launched its new Corporate Image at DVD.
Peter Hobson, Managing Director of Hobson Industries said, “Over the last two years Hobson Industries has developed our innovative Whole Fleet Management techniques from concept to reality. To enable the sound operation for our customers we have installed new engineering processes and ordering systems to fulfil the growing number of Requirements and Orders. In addition due to the success of our Asset Managed Parts Range, we have extended the number of items available to 3000. We now have arrangements with our supplier base to build their products under licence and to supply these items to the MoD and other customers.”
In addition to the new Corporate Logo and Web Site announced at DVD Hobson Industries also announces a streamlined Management structure.
